Graeme M. Skelly, BSC, MBCS, CITP

Graeme is a senior risk management professional who is a pioneer of data warehouse technology, with a proven track record of delivery and adding value. He is an experienced lecturer and consultant with over 32 years’ experience of directing and implementing systems, strategies and projects within critical business functions of highly dynamic multinational companies.

 

Graeme started his career as an Analyst Program for British Petroleum Plc (BP) before joining Barclays Bank Plc in 1991 as Systems Manager for the Financial Engineering division. Graeme progressed to the position of Chief Operating Officer for the Corporate Bank Treasury. There he was responsible for all operations and IT of a dynamic global market and interest rate risk management business function located in seven different countries. He took charge of operational risk, planning, IT strategy, governance, project management, development, infrastructure, service delivery, budget and human resources. He became the systems and operations director of the group treasury department in 2000, where he was made responsible for the management of all technology, infrastructure, development, operational risks and support of a front / middle office mission critical business. In addition to treasury / market risk management, this business undertook trading, capital management and liquidity management activities.

 

In 2002, Graeme left Barclays to set up his own business where he has worked on training and consultancy assignments mainly in the banking industry. Working under assignment for the Global Association of Risk Professionals Graeme was part of a small team that implemented a series of internationally recognized risk-based professional qualifications.

 

Graeme is an experienced commercial trainer known for his practical know-how and hands-on approach, with the ability to communicate complex issues effectively. He has provided consultancy services and training around the world, working with central banks, banks, professional associations, training companies and consultancy firms in Europe, Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Far East. He has delivered training courses on banking risk and regulation, operational risk, Basel II & III, financial crime, corporate governance and technology.
